SIGNATURE EVENTS & ART AUCTIONS

What began as a small community art fundraiser gradually evolved into something much larger—a growing movement built around creativity, connection, and giving back.

Over the past several years, artists, musicians, venues, local businesses, and community members across Vancouver and Gastown have come together through live art auctions and fundraising events supporting the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation. Every event shared one simple belief:

Art has the power to bring people together.

The journey began with the February 2023 Art Auction, where the community raised $3,942 in support of cancer treatment and research through the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation.

The evening showed how artists, creative spaces, and community members could unite around causes that touch families across British Columbia. From that moment, a clear mission emerged:

Lifting community through sharing art.

As the events continued, the causes became even more personal.

A fundraiser raised over $5,000 in support of the Eye Care Centre at Vancouver General Hospital and the Department of Ophthalmology, helping advance patient care, education, and research.

Following specialized cornea refractive surgery performed by Dr. Simon Holland, giving back became deeply meaningful. The fundraiser became a way to thank not only the surgeon, but also the nurses, coordinators, cleaners, and healthcare teams whose dedication supports patients every day.

Healthcare is built by people working together to help others heal.

As the community grew, artists donated artwork, musicians brought live energy, and local venues became valued partners. Another fundraiser supported Heart & Lung specialists through the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, contributing toward treatment and research across British Columbia.

More important than the fundraising totals was the atmosphere surrounding each event. People were sharing experiences built around creativity, generosity, and community.

The Live Art Auction Fundraiser in Gastown on April 19 became another milestone, bringing people together through live painting, auctions, music, conversation, and creativity.

Funds supported initiatives including the Future of Surgery Campaign and community-based healthcare programs serving the Downtown Eastside, including mental health, addictions, seniors, palliative, and expanded at-home care.

PAL Studio was built on the belief that artists deserve opportunities to share their work while communities benefit from experiences that bring people together.

The goal was never simply to host events. It was to create spaces where creativity inspires conversation, collaboration, generosity, and care.

Art became the catalyst.

Community became the outcome.

These events were made possible by artists, musicians, venues, volunteers, attendees, and healthcare professionals. Every contribution mattered, transforming creative gatherings into meaningful acts of community support.

This story is still being written.

The fundraising totals matter, but the lasting impact is found in the relationships created along the way—opportunities for artists, support for healthcare initiatives, and communities coming together through creativity.

There will be more events.
More artists.
More music.
More collaboration.
More opportunities to support important causes throughout British Columbia.

Because when creativity and community come together with purpose, lasting impact follows.
